FISHING IN ICELAND

We can assist you in booking the perfect fly fishing holiday in Iceland, a diverse angling paradise. Whether you are fly fishing for salmon, brown trout, arctic char or sea trout, Iceland is the place to visit. The fishing season lasts from April 1 to October 20.

Salmon: Salmon fishing in Iceland in the summer season of 2008 June-September, exceeded all records with 88,000 fish being caught on rods. The possibilities of fly fishing for salmon in Iceland are as diverse as the rivers are numerous. You can book rods on a self catering river or go for luxury lodgings with full service. You can choose a small crystal clear river where you will see the fish and have the whole river for you and your family or fishing partners. Or you can select a river suited for double hand rods and tube fishing if that is your game.

Brown trout: Iceland has some of the best brown trout fishing to be found in the world. Dry flies, streamers and nymphs are the methods used here. Fish up to 23 lbs have been caught this spring.

Arctic char: There are endless possibilities for char fishing, both in lakes and rivers. Sea run arctic char are among the strongest sport fish you will encounter, 2 – 10 lbs.

Sea trout: The sea trout season in Iceland starts in the autumn and lasts until October 20. You can also catch sea trout in the spring when the fish are going out to sea again. We are talking about large fish here, from 4 – 20 lbs.

If trout is what you are looking for we can put together exciting weeks with lake and river fishing.
